Hey guys,
I am looking for a diesel GQ shorty. As you may know, and what we are finding out, is they are a bit rare and hard to come by. We are chasing a late model ('93-'95).
What we are wondering is how hard would it be to transplant a diesel into a petrol model? The fuel tank and lines would have to be changed over, but what else? Is the gearbox, drivetrain, etc the same for both, or do we have to get these as well?
Any advice would be great.

can reuse petrol fuel lines !!!
drivetrain is the same !!! , just different bellhousing !!!
radiator is different !!
engine mounts are the same !!! I THINK !!!!
worse part of conversion is wiring !!!!

Heath - It took me quite a while to find my turbo diesel SWB on the Gold Coast.
It's funny how things change - a number of the Winch Challenge guys seem to be going GAS/DIESEL. I think to avoid heating issues and as well as save $ on fuel. They did comment on the change in power spread on Gas.

Hi, i am a member of the GC club, and I had a chat to you at last night's meeting. I drive the red Feroza with the lights on the roof... well the missus drives it more than me.. on and off road.
I am chasing a diesel, not necessarily a turbo diesel, but I may aftermarket one later on. I found a petrol one that was perfect, but it's not what I want. Andy had indicated you didnt really pay much for yours initially (but spent heaps since!!), so here's hoping.
