My rig has no nipples ... !

I was under my truck the other day, doing some secret suspension mods and noticed I have no grease nipples on any of the rod ends for the steering (2000 GU).

Drive shaft both have them, as you'd expect but all the rod ends are sealed and does not look like there are any "plugged hole" that could be replaced with grease nipples.

This was the only thread I could find and talks about plugged holes but I sure can't find anything like that on mine.

Am I blind or is this the go?

My guess is they are designed as disposable items and until you replace them once, this is not an option. Correct?

Yes, well I sat there staring at them from every angle for about 10 minutes, thinking I was going crazy but still couldn't find shiat!!!

Does yours have grease nipple already or were they capped and you had to add them?

my old mans GU doesnt have and grease nipples on any of the rod ends, i dont think they came out witrh any.

Seems very strange to me, prob same reason why the autos don't have a dip stick. :roll:

my 2000 gu only has em on tail shafts as well, same as most newer vehicles although they seem to last while the rubber is intact.

I have fitted grease nipples to sealed GU red ends once. Drilled and tapped. Amazing how much water came out after pumping full of grease.

I did consider this but figured the metal shaving/inside burring from drilling would cause more damage than good.

Did they end up lasting after you did this or flog out pretty quick?

All my GU rod ends are drilled & tapped with nipples, now 7 years old no probs yet. But i did see 1 with a bent thread which isn't uncommon.
