How ya going
Wondering what do you's think is the better tyre for my application (normal highway driving - light to medium 4x4ing) and also how many KM's should you expect out of them.
Out of the Baja Claw Radial and the BF Goodrich Muddies...35 x 12.5 x 15
Any Idea....????
Thanks
Casey

My car has some gear ratio problems, It revs to HIGH.... The 350 chev can easy drive any size tyre I put under there, but 35's will do the job without to many more mods... I currently have 31" desert duelers near new.. But there not big enough....

Are these reasonable prices or just on par with every thing else..
I can get Kellys for 280.00, MTR's for 319.00, thats about all I can think of now...
Casey
i think for what u want mtrs first!!! as the closest tyre as a semi alll terrain if u want the look of the muds other wise you could nearly get away with an all terrain!!!, then bfg's then claws in order of seriousness.... mtr's in 4x4 monthly 295 and ive boght a set at this price but due to a bit more serious stuff gone to claws but u wont need by the kellys ive had nothing to do with so wont comment....sounds...... like mtrs..........
i urge anyone to argue with a decent explaination ......bingham

for me, I'd go MTR's or BFs
I don't know where all this "camber/side traction" crap started.
This is where the Claw pattern was derived. It's a patented 23 degree angled cutting lug designed for maximum traction offroad. I drive on claws now and don't have an issue with them. I fit them just about every day of the week and talking to each of these people on their next visit, their response is that they have never driven on a better radial traction tyre off road.
If you are going to lose traction on the Claws, it really doesn't matter what tyre you are on, it'd still lose traction.
For this application, the BFG MT would be the better of your options listed since it's more highway and light 4wdriving. It's not as aggressive and a bit friendlier on the road. Mileage between the two would see the BFG gaining a little more than the Claw. The Claw would require more frequent rotations due to it's luggier, more offroad nature. The Claw is the next step again in the Offroad Traction Tyre market. It is designed for the regular off road challenges.
Hope this helps,
Ryano
There is a big differnece in the tractor tyre arg though.
OK the tractor tyres have, huge casing, deep biting tread, and fewer lugs and perpetual low speed use.
The tractor tyres lugs point forward more and the lugs bite into the ground a lot deeper due to higher point load derived from less lugs. This helps stop the cross slope stability issues. The tractor tyres can also run this bettter due to the huge casing size. Tractor tyres also are made to help drag or push HUGE loads forwards, nothing else is really taken into consideration.
Car tyres don't have this luxuries. We want them to run at 110, be quiet and not break traction onroad. It is all compromise. the 4by version of this tread pattern has the lugs nearer horizontal. So cross slope, when they don't have the same point load are tractor tyres they will slide sideways very easy. When we let our tyres down to bag them up we are actually reducing the point load and making the car feel lighter over the area it is on. Higher surface area, lower ground pressure.
the MT Baja's are great in the go forward department, not as good int he rock climbing department maybe.
The mud sounds like the tyre for you. A better all rounder.

Something witty said by someone famous
I have had my 33 inch claws for about 20 thousand kays now and i cannot fault them except on a realy hot day they tend to get soft in the side wall as they seen to flex alot more when cornering
but having said that they are fantastic on road and let down to 20 psi they seem to bag more than some other tyres on the market. they are wearing well and if you dont mind a little noise on road (i dont) they are a good all rounder i have found. and on the issue of off camber situations they can be a lil deceptive at times side slopes they tend to slide a little more than i would like but having said that i have just put a deposit on a set of 35's i love em
each to their own

I have the claw radial and have had it on side slopes and rocks, Yes they arnt as great on side slops but you still get traction and you are not going to slide downa hill just because of the as some of you think they will. In rocks they are a great tyre, with out going hardcore tyres. People brag on how good the MTR's are on rocks and when people ask what tyre they should get people jump and say MTR's are the best like they are made bya god or something. I had MTR's had no problem with them at all, but the claws are quieter on road but give a little vibration at the end of braking that the MTR doesnt, other then that i feel that the CLAW is better them then on rocks and most other areas offroad. So if you want Give them ago.
Sorry to go on like this, i got in eairly befor the MTR guys did.
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)

i agree in part and yes there is a slight vibration in my claws to but i wouldnt agree with noise mine are clearly noisier than mtrs but as he described light to medium 4x4ing!!!!! not medium to heavy xtreme. thats why i had the shits with my mtrs they couldnt handle the wet stuff...... but i think in this case it would suit more personally....
my few cents
AND MAKE SURE EVERYONE SEE RYANO FOR THEIR RUBBER'S at FOURBY's Marooka..... and i dont mena for a pub run tnite
