Idea

Post by roadrunner »

Was thinking lately that instead of SAS under the front of my Vit, would it be easier to put the Vit body straight onto a sierra chassis.

LWB or extended SWB chassis with the back end of the Vit taken off, with a tray

Sierra front axle / vit rear running 5.12s or Lux F & R

Keep the 1.6 EFI and G-box and run a sierra T-case

Leaf springs up front with a 4 point rear.

Not fot comp, just a weekend hack. Should be able to be rego'd with engineer cert.

Came up with this idea when we were up the Tallarooks drinking piss around the fire.

What does anybody reckon. Is it a long way around a short problem, has it been done and if so, was it worthwhile.

Got a Sierra coming over tomorrow to measure up

Making much more work for your self then needed , and after all the work you wil probly not get it engineered , body wieght being you main prob,

My honest opinion is forget it ,

Best route for relaibility would be Lux diffs front and rear , same as
celia n ugene's ,

Isnt the idea of a sas to be able to go harder?

Dont all the serria boys end up with lux diffs anyway???

As you said, its the long way around a short problem...
