thought id ask peoples opinions as to what diffs are stronger in STANDARD
form.

80 series or dana44...

this is the front and rear...

they will be turning 38 tsl...

i do not want to know what i will have to do to either to make it stronger.. :D

80 series from what i have seen (36's etc on standard 80 series axles, pulling heavy 80 series about)

except maybe in reverse, where high pinion reverse cut gears are not your friend

but why are you guys choosing the toyo's over the dana's?

what lets go in a dana that doesnt in an 80ser.?

or is it the fact that parts are more easily accessed for the 80 ser.?

parts / cost

hy pinon front

disc brakes all round, besides limited number of drum brake rears

6 on 5.5" bolt pattern

If was me I would be running either 80ser or GQ only cause of price/strengh ratio

Plus to upgrade a 44 requires a lot more $'s than toy gear

why not get diffs out of f truck? hi pinion 44 front, 9" rear.

same stud pattern as zook, take advantage of all the cheap rims available.

d44's in the states appear to blow the U joints into chunks. alot of people however are getting success with the 80 series Cv's

A stock dana 44 front will not hold up to 38's for very long at all
The uni joint will break first which then takes out the inner and/or outer axles.

I would not have any confidence running 38's and a 44 front.
On the other hand you can build a lot of strength into one if you have some money :)

With CTM uni joints, and alloy axles they will hold up to 38's for some time.
The length of time is dependant on the weight of the rig, driving style, horsepower etc.

HP9" front is probably the next upgrade before a 60.

Realistically you need one ton outers to get some serious strength for big tyres.

NFI on strength in comparison to toy and nissan diffs as I do not have enough experience with those brands to comment.

cheers
