Help!! hilux gearbox removal

Post by macklux83 »

SORRY GUYS,but one more question about removing the gearbox of a 2L engine,i have got everything off except for 2 nuts which seem impossible (for me) to get to. The first one is at the back of the starter motor and is holding it in place, i cant figure out how to get at it because of all the shit in the way and the second is the top one on the drivers side sort of next to the exhaust manifold, ive taken the exhaust off but just cant see how to get it out!
any help would be great fellas
cheers

not long done the same thing-used the wobbler plus all the extensions we had to get good leverage-there were real tight! The body lift helped to get in there and it was on a hoist.

Try getting a 17 and 19mm spanner. Place the 17mm ring end on the nut/bolt to undo facing upwards to the bonnet. Link in the 17mm open end with the 19mm ring end to make one large lever. If you have no body lift this method is the easiest.

NB. Make sure your battery terminals are off before removing the starter. ;)
