chassis swap
ok, i have to put a new chassis on my patrol, ive never done such a major swap b4. what sorta things should i look out for and what sorta order should i follow? any help is appreciated and wont be forgotten.

this will be a missioon, each individual task isnt hard, but add em all up and you have yourself a big job.
i would probably start by pulling engine + gear box
drop fuel tank and other randoims from under the car, steering box etc
put stands under chassis, drop axles and suspension
probably pull any heavy bulky items out of the body
stands under body, or maybe swing it from above?
start dropping the old chassis, fuel lines, brake lines, exhaust, bash plates, bull bar, rear bar, tow bar etc etc
drop the body to chasis bolts, old chasis shouldnt be too hard to slide around if its bare, prolly still a few hundred kg's
swinging the body from the roof would make it alot easier, but you may damage the body unless you can spread the weight well enough (planks throiugh the open doors)
then slide new chasis under, jake it up to place, and start assembly
gonna be a big arse job!

I would go another way, if you have the room ( I did it this way on my Rocky)
Lift the body as a whole first, so you can roll the entire chassis forward from under it. Then swap all the running gear, tanks, steering, ect, then roll the new chassis back under body, and incorporate a body lift while your at it.
And yes, I concur, a pretty big job, but, look at it as a whole heap of little jobs.

I do it on my own Patrol 4 mounths ago is the best way to go, it took only 2 days for complete all the job.

i agree it is a big arse job, but i dont really have a choice......
the old ones cracked due to the fact that the previous owner had never cleaned any of the rails out and there musta been some preety hardcore steel eating shit in it. basically the rail rusted from the inside out and got too weak and cracked. its still driveable for now, but i wana get onto it as quik as i can.
