Joel this is realy something that should be left up to a Trans Specialist. I have rebuilt all sorts of Manual Gearbox's and still wont touch an auto.

have you removed the clip from the side inside the case. this holds it in. try getting a hold of a vn auto manual it explains it all.

thankyou for your feedback. tony i know that i'm over my head in this and if it all turns pearshaped then it'll go to the trans shop. ruggers can you suggest which manual is best. was looking through one and it was simple a service rather than a pull down and rebuild.
cheers joel

Haha. My haynes manual for me disco says you should get it checked by the dealer or trans specialist. Doesn't even show any pictures of the internals to make you feel like your doing d.i.y stuff

. It does this fot the transfer and manual box too.

The sun gear is covering up the output shaft retaining clip, it will just lift out. The clip can be a total pain in the ass to remove, i have a pair of snap on circlip pliers that are designed just for that clip. If you still having problems, ill get the part number of them when i go back to work. Hope this helps mate......
