1.6 starter into 1.3 Sierra??? now fixed, how embarrassing

Post by christover1 »

1.6 Vitara starter motor into 1.3 Sierra?
Can this be done?
I think I've heard it can be done.
Is there any advantage?
I believe they would more likely be in better condition than a 2nd hand Sierra one? IE less mudded, less use and newer.
Sierra ones seem harder to find in working condition.
I'm getting tired of killing starters :(
I will do a hunt/search around the forum, too.

Starter Motor is fixed now, how embarrassing :)
Was just a loose bolt at the bottom of the starter, this and the slight film of oil caused a bad earth spasmodically. IE not quite enuff power to throw the solenoid far enuff, nor spin the motor fast enuff. But at times it worked OK.
Thanx for everybodies input/help, as it will all be useful some day.
