I have heard the shorty's can be restrictive due lifts due to vibrations in the drivetrain due to the angle of the drive shaft? Is this true?.. and if so, how can it be overcome?

I was looking at 4 inch suspension and 2 inch body lift...

easy fix !!!!
transfer case spacers !!!! spaces x-member down !!!!

other options are
1.. roll rear diff slightly !!! slightly longer upper trailing arms & reposition spring plates !!
2.. lift engine mounts !!

move the axle back about 60mm using all adjustable links (good for tyre clearance once the quarter panels are cut off) cut the coil plates off the housing and rotate forward so you can point the pinion up higher, move the shock mounts back and up. The standard shaft will work with 6" coils with all this done. Sounds like a lot of work, but I did the majority of it in a weekend and I am by no means a good mechanic. Look out for the panhard or the brake valve hitting the fuel tank.
