1lt Transfer vs Rockhopper

Looking for some advice in regards to transfer gearing.

Currently run a 94 sierra with 2" OME lift and running 235/75 Coppers.

Now my problem is that I want my low range back.... Was always shit as standard and increasing the tyre size obviously hasn't helped.

I am tossing up between swaping transfer case to a 1lt version or putting some rockhopper gears into my current one. I'm happy with high range but realise thats going to be reduced in some way. Now the car is a daily driver and I spend about 40mins a day travelling down the M1 at 110k's. Ormeau is my usual playground with regular camping trips to the beach. And before you all start jumping on the 33" band wagon I won't be putting bigger tyres on this thing..... Well not for a very long time anyway.

So what do you reckon, transfer or Rockhopper??

Thanks guys

you'd be looking at series 1 rockhoppers..... series 3 would fark your high range.

Unless you went 33's :finger:

I would like to put bigger rubber under it....

If I we had a second car no probs, can't afford it at the moment plus my missus has to drive this thing around as well and being quite small has enough problems as it is. I wouldn't hear the end of it if I made it any harder for her to drive.

1ltr is cheap test out.

I run 31's on a NT with 1ltr transfer and do bout 30km per day when i drive it to work. seems good with the rev range. same as a series 1 i think.

cheers

You could always go the 1ltr transfer case for now to save on the $$$ and then if you want later on do the rocklobster conversion on it to get the equavilent of a series 1 rockhopper to get the lower low range

rocklobster conversion http://ironbark.bendigo.latrobe.edu.au/~jeff/xfer2.htm
