Longer length shocks for Feroza F300

Longer length shocks for Feroza F300
Just some info that may help others out.
Have been attempting to find some longer rear shocks for my narrow track (note wide tracks use different shocks!!) and have come up with the following info:
The standard rear shocks are a S4 top mount (3/8 shaft, 16mm hole in chassis) and L1 lower (loop centre 16mm / 5/8" , 34mm / 1 5/16" wide). S4 and L1 are terms from the Monroe USA catalogue.
My Bilsteins (which are about 25mm longer extended than the factory rears I removed) measure 297mm compressed and 473 extended.
I worked out the maximum compressed length (approx) to prevent shock damage by checking the length when the diff is compressed to the bumpstop and got a figure of around 320mm. Using your shock to limit downtravel will usually kill it very quickly!!!
Other shocks that should fit and compressed and extended lengths (not taking into account the compressed length max of around 320mmm) :
Rav4 7/00-7/96 551 331
626 RWD 78-79 564 339
Celica RA25 70-75 524 339
Jackaroo 86-92 580 339
Torana 74-79 580 339
Commodore WGN 93-97 517 307
The above lengths are from the Aussie Monroe catalogue, and I don't guarantee the above shocks will fit, but there's a good chance they will.
I'm going to buy a set of the Commodore wagon ones today and see how they go with my lifted springs. Going by the above specs they'll be around 70mm longer than the original stock items. I don't know if the valving of them will be suitable or not.
Off the shelf longer items are made by Top Dog BD1104T and BM1104 (adjustable); but I have been unable to get the lengths for them. They are recommended for a 40mm lift. Prices seem to be about $125ea and $270 ea for the adjustables. I can get a set of Commodore wagon Monroe Gas shocks for $115 a pair.... so I'm willing to experiment.
TJM also make a longer rear shock- nut sure of the specs or prices for that.

They could be a good option for wide tracks then! How does the length compare?
BTW have the widetracks have got a threaded stud at both shock ends? I think that's the difference?
If the Monroes improve the ride (the extra length should cure the severe ride problems over big bumps ) then I might investigate Commodore wagon Koni's.

OK, the Commodore Wagon ones bolt straight in. Thats all Commodore wagons rear shock from VL to VS inclusive. Compressed length is very close to standard and they extend roughly 70mm longer. The good news is that means Konis (which should be firmer and adjustable to boot) can be bought off the shelf for the rear.
The Monroe GT gas ones I've got are softer on compression (operating them with a calibrated hand ), so I'm a bit concerned on how they'll go. As long as the rebound is higher I'll be happy.

have you tried Fulcrum Suspension?
my feroza has KYB shocks, awesome tight shocks but the fronts are right at the top of their stroke. i rung Fulcrum (one of our suppliers) and they have a set of their own for high lift feroza's (fronts). Formula i think the dude called them.
they might do rears as well, i could give them a ring tomorow at work and find out.

If you could get the specs for those shocks, that would be great (extension and compression lengths, $$$ ). KYB make the stock shocks and have top adjustable ones to suit listed on oversea's sites (possibly would be bolt in replacements for the factory electronic shocks?)
The Commondoor ones are an improvement- my old ones were running out of extension on large bumps!
BTW I had a look at Koni's site and the part number they listed for the Commodore Wagons (80-2233SP1) is the same as the Commodore utes- which means there's another Monroe model that will fit from their 4WD range 16-0234 http://www.monroe.com.au/default.asp?pa ... PUP&sid=12 . I don't know what lengths that one is though?

rung Fulcrum at work today, they do extended length shocks for the rears of both models.
the ones to suit the f300 have a extended length of 490mm and compressed of 290mm.
the f310 ones have a extended length of 436mm and compressed of 268mm.
the fronts they do have a extended length of 355mm and compressed of 231mm. these fit both models.
the Monroe 16-0234 you mentioned above have a extended length of 504mm and compressed length of 314mm. i had look in the back of the Monroe cattledog and there is a set 16-0269 that have a extended length of 511mm and compressed of 311mm. these will both fit the f300 model.
the Koni's you mentioned (80-2233sp1) i didnt manage to get a ext and comp measurements, i have to ring them back tomorow and they will get them for me. lot more expensive though.
PM me for what i can do them for if interested, note i am in Bundaberg.

Thanks for the info.... I'll have to stick with the Commode wgn shocks for a while - no spare funds (although they still seem about the best option at 307 and 517mm)
I did find the 16-0269 when I was searching- it's to fit a 88-94 Patrol ute front. I didn't list them as I couldn't confirm if the "loop"end was the correct size; Monroe Aust catalogue doesn't specify what size the loops are- or at least the version I looked through didn't?
Some other possiblities I found were :
15-0416 Nissan Nomad van 82 -90 542 320mm
17-2034 Toyota Tarago 84 - 90 497 297mm
6238 Canter truck!! 79 - 90 526 317mm
