I had a set of the rs9000 in a Feroza when I had the car. Ferozas are not all that comfy to ride in, but I can honestly say it felt better in (1) the softest setting when offroad.
No, I did not have the in-cab thingy.

I guess IMO it boils down to the type of car and personal prefferance.
Dont expect mere proof to sway my opinion.

I had adjustable Ranchos for about 3 years on my 40.

I dont think I ever changed the settings :? In fact, I dont think I even know what they were set on

Great shocks, never had a hassle with them even when the were caved in ;) Only replaced the 1st set when I changed my suspension and had more flex and needed longer ones

I run Rancho 9012's and love the ability to adjust them. I generally run them around 7 for on road and 3 for rocks or higher for mud/sand. It does make quite a difference.

The difference between the 5 way and 9 way adjustables really isn't that much though. They adjust between the same hardness and softness, but the 9 ways have more settings in between each extreme.

Adjustable are good for a small rig like a zook cause you want to set em at 1 (and still too hard) where the 5000 are stuck on the equivalent 3 setting

Most people are not constantly adjusting there settings.
Generally speaking it is there so you can set it up for your vehicle.
Like others have said if you have a light vehicle and there designed for a heavy wehicle (in the case of Rancho) then the adjustable setting is worth while or they will not be right for you.

They were on the Mav' when I bought it and I like 'em. I do adjust them when I go offroad. I only use two settings, "5" for on road and "1" for offroad.

HUGE difference!!!

My 2c worth.

i always have mine on the softest setting but if you need to tow a trailer or carry a bit of weight now and again your able to stiffen them up a bit to stop the rear from sagging thats the only reason i have them

I didn't think they made 5000's anymore? You'd have to get a second hand set?

I put 5000's in my cherokee and i'm not too happy with them. They are very "gassy" and the ride is just ok. I've had adjustables before (still have em in my zook) and they were great.

Biggest pro for them is that they don't really wear out cause you can just turn the dial a notch if it's too soft. I don't think there's any shock better for light vehicles like suzuki's. 5000's might work better on a heavier than cherokee vehicle.
My tires were rubbing in the front, so I trimmed the hood, and now they're fine...
