turboing the tb4.2
turboing the tb4.2
howdy peoples, i have a gq ute with a tb4.2 in it its currently carby but i have the inlet plenium and injectors, dizzy oxygen sensor, i dont have the airflow sensor as the wreckers i bought it off wanted 700 bucks for it stuff that i said as when i rang them i wanted a quote on the whole efi kit so i could just bolt it on and i mean i wanted everything the loom computer, everything so 2000 bucks later no air flow meter. Im thinking now that i want to use comodore computer and stuff just make up a new loom has anyone else done this with out going to someone else that will charge you lots of $$$s. im not paying 700$s for a airflow meter considering its second hand, im turboing it at the same time as i have a turbo and manifold sitting in the shed i really would rather not to run a airflow meter just another thing to stuff up, any help would be good..

gday, im also turboing my carby patrol but mine has the 3.0 petrol, luckily for me i can use all VL and skyline gear, which is fairly cheep. Dont even consider using a factory airflow meter for that price, get hold of a microtech or Wolf they are that cheap now probly around the $700 mark. Actually i have an early motec for about $550 if ur interested. Anyway this way u can do away with the airflow meter free up the inlet tract, AFM's are tempremntal things anyway especially on a 4WD dust water and stufff.
I have all the wiring diagrams and clever stuff all drawn up if its any help, aslo if u use an aftermarket ecu find ur self some RX-7 non turbo injectors about $20 bucks each and will flow about 400hp (heaps). oh and turn down the plastic barb on the end in a lathe so they fit the standard fuel rail.
cheers

yeah ok thanks for the info peoples i new that about the computer, i was gonna use the commodore v6 computer i really wanted to not use a airflow meter for that exact reason "mud and water" that computer sounds good, and the wireing diagrams now they are handy i would be grateful if i could get them off you.. let me no what you reckon on the computer im not up with prices on aftermarket comps, im not looking for outrageous power but i think with a moderate power increase will be more fun then standard petrol..
