ok here we go! ive put a carbi kit in and gave it a tuneup and all was runnin well but now its gone back to what it was doin before! when you first start her up she runs like an absolute dog, cooughing and spluttering, blowing heaps of smoke untill she warms up! any idead why she does it anyone please? i was thinking maybe crap on the choke or perhaps not even the carbi?

Sounds way too rich. Does it cough and splutter when you try to rev it? I'd say back off auto choke a little.

Mine does it too! I change the points and it seems ok, for two days. I have no idea why.
06 Grand Vitara Prestige, 2" lift, Kumho A/Ts, ARB winch bar, snorkel, spotties. Also a Regal 2150 LSC Volva Penta 350 gsi duoprop, and a kayak ;-)

When i had mine exact same prob. Put carby kit in, ran ok for a couple days then played up again. At the time i was told save my money on carby kits & try getting it running well when motor has warmed up. Did this with sucess, still didn't fix prob when cold.
GU Patrol, EFS Suspension ,Switzer Turbo,Rock Sliders(ouch ).

I'd check the choke adjustment aswell.
