ok my fj40 is overcharging the battery ive replaced the voltage reg and its still doing it
ive fiddled with the wiring cleaned up the connectors on the alternator and still its overcharging im getting 14v at idle and 16 plus when its reving

would it be worthwile rewiring the voltage reg with some better (new) wire and a new lead from the alternator to the battery

any ideas ???

Check the sence voltage. S terminal on alt, see if it has battery voltage.
If this is lower then battery voltage the alt will still charge even if the batt is fully charged. Check that the alt and engine has a good earth.

May have to look at a circuit diagram. Can't remember if the sence circuit comes from the battery or through the ignition. Anyone else know???
