would it be worthwile rewiring the voltage reg with some better (new) wire and a new lead from the alternator to the battery

any ideas ???

Check the sence voltage. S terminal on alt, see if it has battery voltage.
If this is lower then battery voltage the alt will still charge even if the batt is fully charged. Check that the alt and engine has a good earth.

excellent
went and checked and its reading between 11.2 at idle to 6.2v at 3000rpm ?? any ideas

is there a simple way to rewire it assuming that the factory wiring is dodgy ??

id rather not pay a auto elec if i dont have too

May have to look at a circuit diagram. Can't remember if the sence circuit comes from the battery or through the ignition. Anyone else know???
