A customer of ours is looking to fit rock hopper reduction gearing to a 2.8 turbo diesel GU 1999 model. I know that you will respond with buy a 4.2 but this truck is in exceptional condition and it already has alot of money spent on it.
The idea behind the reduction is so that we can fit 35s or 36s on it and still have the power to ascend steep hill sections. He is not chasing speed, infact the opposite he is looking to achieve low speed control. He is interested in hearing from anyone who has installed rock hoppers to a 2.8 turbo diesel GU.
Regards,
Snatch.

Got em, in a 4.5 GU, when you have crawler gears you are the slowest dude on the block
Tell ya customer to pry open the wallet and get em fitted.
then the Slippery Snail can have another go slow Buddy!

my old man has em in his GU 2.8t and its awsome off road, drive verry well, tell him to fit 4.88 diff ratios too, drives better onroad with 35's,
and he can sell the orig 4.6's and make some money back,

I would say second best.
The best would be an engine swap.
