Does anyone know what transfer case is in the current model diesel non-turbo Cruiser?
They changed the gearbox since the 75 series this much I know.
I want to install lower gears to suit 35" tyres but Marks can't tell me which set I need.

Basically the same as the 75 series, slightly different front housing but all the gears appear the same as the 75 cases. I would be careful about giving these (78-9) gearboxes to much of a hiding as they have a couple of major faults that result in a sudden 'no-drive situation.

The HZJ78 has the HF1A if part time, and the HF2A if full time. I've seen the cases up close and personal and they don't look anything like the 1981-1999 transfers though.

Full-time 4wd in 78 series?
Had one in bits the other week and they look verysimilar to the earlier ones. So similar that the same rebuild kit suits!

Okay so I'm confused.
Hasn't anyone fitted a lower ratio gearset to their 78/9 series?
And if this 'box is available full-time, what model LC is it in?
Failing that is their someone I can ring to find out for sure?

1980-1989
1990-1999
what do you mean by early?? the split case stopped in 1989 and the case looks way different.

. I was thinking of the 80 series. But still the same HF1A designation applies to the transfer
