4 speed MQ

Post by stewie81 »

I have MQ with 4 spd with L28.. I am looking for another one as this one has seen better days...

But Whilst looking and talking with wreckers I have been to there is 2 types of set up's.???

Mine goes G/box little tail shaft then Transfer ? Is this the common type?

Cheers

Yea, you get the T100L transfercase, this has a small propshaft between the gearbox and transfercase, and the T130A transfercase bolts up directly to the gearbox, I believe??

correct.

You have the divorsed transfer.

from that i can tell u that its more than likely an MK, and also its a LWB wagon.

Wat u will find.

Is the gearbox it self is exactly the same for both...

its only the end plate on the rear output of the box.

On standard setup the transfer just bolts straight up to it...

on yours a plate with a hole and seal for the output shaft that goes to the transfer is there.

All u have to do, is buy which ever box u want, just make sure not the buy the transfer case, and then take your rear cover with shaft output off and bolt it onto the other box insted of a transfer case.

Both gearboxes are identical except for this point.

cheers

screwy ;)

transfer

It will be an MQ! I had one myself and the divorsed transfer is great for plonking any motor gearbox combo.

If you ever need a divorsed transfer itself ive got one..... but manuel box would be hard ish to find second hand other than wrecking yards.

Id be buying a 4 speed that came with the transfer on the back and just putting your rear plate on it.

they are more common. guys on here have them, and there for would be cheaper than any other option, just involves you getting ur hands abit greasy for a coupla hours
