hi, i would most definately consider a bloke named Mike, he is an extremely nice bloke, knows the disco's,defenders and most rangy's quite well. he isn't a mechanic i don't think but might as well be. he has a lot of contacts in his industry. email him at mike@roverworks.net
cheers, LJ

thanks mate,
i have actually put the rangie into a guy called Brenton at British4x4 and have already had some good news - ill get the final verdict tomorrow though. :D

i took it to a 'recomended mechanic' before, that isnt too far from where i live and the quote was 1300bux :x - which could have bought me a 2nd hand motor with a quarter of the kms that mine has !!!

got it back tonight. runs great - all for the low price of $82.

THere is a valve that controls fuel going to the injectors when they arent being used, he said it was stuffed and things that it was dragging voltage across it. he has wired a loop back plug on the wiring (so the valve isnt being used at all) and it now runs great.

It will be going back in to get the injector hoses replaced in a couple of weeks and he said while he has it all apart there he will check the cold start valve piping as they get full of carbon/crap. this will cost about $200-250. so all up will cost about $330. this is a lot better than a quote i got from another workshop for $1300.

So i highly recommend Brenton from British4X4 in SA

Well done. It is good to get good news when you have braced yourself for the worse.
