Hilux rear diff= centred
78 rear diff= offset
78 rear diff= 5 stud???
hilux rear diff= 6 stud
Ratio - maybe. 89 2.8's are 4.3, and 78's are 4.3???
It'd be nice for the disks, full float and strength, but I think it might be a fair bit of work to get right - i.e custom centred conversion.
I'm guessing you'd need to upgrade the master cylinder too.

Ive built over 50 of these rear housings up till now and the 78 diff was no different only the cut out to clear the crown wheel needed to be opened up to clear the bigger crown wheel. Havn't got any pictures only my engineering drawings that ive developed over the years to store all the info for all the different models.
