3/4 elliptic spoa done
3/4 elliptic spoa done
i bit the bullet and went with the 3/4 spoa i used the front main for the top spring due to its higher spring rate than the rear seems to work ok.flexes well without being rediculous had it on side angle not too bad, didnt seem to want to unload.havent tried hill climb yet but doesnt seem too unstable on road, not pinned yet but doesnt seem much different than the standard spoa on road.heres a quick pic up a home made ramp

will be interested to see how it goes climbing on a slight side angle. Mine was super dooper until then.
I've got two springs on the buggyleaf to make it stiffer and mines a soft top.

Looks good.
Anyone know if it possible to do a 3/4 and leave the orig spring mounts in? Thinking of doing the same and trying it out. But i dont want to remove the old ones so if don't like it can put it back in.
cheers
Nic

I think it's more than that, hard to tell in a photo.
I do have heaps more unsprung weigth with MQ diffs, 36" tyres and 15x10 steel beadlocks.
I also have RUF with whacky shackles.

that would explain additional droop if i stand on the rim itll flex another 6 inches ill take it for a run on sunday but ill be shockless didnt get to the shop in time to get shocks so that should test stability a little more theres a little track 2 mins from home that has a bit of everthing ill let ya know how it goes

Just wondering what yous do with the fuel tank (i dont know about early models) because the fuel pipe runs straight infront of the r/h rear shackel and the fuel tank bracket is welded where the spring will sit do you replace the fuel tank with another type (if so what) or move it over and make a new funel.

it woul be a bit hard to temp it with all the chassis rails needing to be cleared so the springs can be mounted.

moving tank
Wesley, the bigest part of the job was moving the tank. You'll need to mod your exhaust first. Rocbox just cut his short where I re-bent mine outside the chassis. Remove all your tank mount (you'll reuse 2 of them), and you are now free to move the tank up an inch and to the left about 4 inchs. As for all your fuel lines just relocate them above the body surport brace just forward of the tank. The filler pipe cut in 2 equal lengths than 'S' bend a 2inch and fit the 2 original rubber pipes each end. Once your chassis rails are clean it only take 30mins to fit up you springs.
By the time I started mine and finished Rocbox's around 6 hours of work.

finally got it out today still shockless but went well none the less had it on some real good side angles climbed a few off camber things, as far as i can tell doesnt seem bugger all different to drive off road stability wise than standard spoa except it flexes better.i give it a big thumbs up should be even better when i get shocks in it
