Hi
Just joined (after searching for a forum like this for a long time). We have just bought a Turbo Diesel Rocky RV with a Resin top and want to get our feet wetter with camping and 4WDriving.
'Cos the room in the back is quite tight, we will need some space up top. I was wondering whether there is a rail system which attaches to the Resin top which would allow me to switch between straight bars and a roof basket system.
There are 4 metal buttons on the roof down each side, but I have quite convinced my wife to let me pull out the upholstery to see what's there.
Does any one have any clues?
Also, what advice does anyone have for the best snorkel system to fit?
One last thing - any DECENT deisel mechanics in the Olinda area of Melbourne (Will travel off either side of the mountain to get there?
Thanks

Help req'd with Roof Racks/Rails and snorkels

Welcome.
Rola and Thule make racks to suit Ferozas- so my guess is they will to suit Rocky's too. Rola has an online fittment chart at www.rola.com.au (IIRC) you can get all sorts of attachments to bolt on including baskets. I've got a 330 litre pod that I use on the Feroza; they're not cheap ($300-$400 min) but are water and dust proof and can be locked too.
Can't help with the other questions. Custom snorkels are usually the go; and try asking about the diesel mechanic in General Tech.

The Buttons down each side of the roof, and unless it changed with the later models, there are 5 on each side, have a large phillips head screw on the underside, much the same as all the others in the rear of the Rocky. There is a fibre washer on top of the roof, under the button, to waterproof the hole. The line of bolts actually holds the roof panel to the side panels.
As for roof racks, I havent seen any aftermarket ones for the Rocky. I know that there have been some made to suit. I have done it myself.
Snorkles are again another thing that really has to be either custom made, or adapted. Get used to it, there are not a heap of aftermarket parts for the Rockys.
