what hilux ratios for 33s

Post by Spartacus »

righty ive decided to run hilux diffs under the diesel rocky !!

what gearing would be better suited for either:
springover and 33s/35s
SPUA and 31s/ maybe 33's

its my daily driver so im unsure on running 4.5s or 4.8s being to high

cheer, mull

I run 4.5's with 33's on road, and my speedo is no longer out, as to when I ean 4.3's, but 4.3's will run 33's no prob's and are much cheaper and more readily available.
Try not to let your mind wander...It is too
small and fragile to be out by itself.

I would try and run 4.8's in a rocky. How much torque does the engine have?

totally from the left.....
are u aware that if its a daily driver, u may have probs fitting the 33s and getn it roadworthy?
I fitted 33s to my hilux and am having a shit loads of probs getting them engineered to pass roadworthy. Engineers reackon that as they came with 29s from the factory, 33s are too big!!

just thought u may want to know that, in case u didnt already know it.

currently its pushing 31s on 3.36:1 fairly average

so im guessing the step to 4.3s would be enough to compensate
33's

the 33+ tyres that are goin on are offroad only, and 33s are staying
on the truck to lower gearing when on road.

hopefully if i choose to chop guard i can squeeze 36/37s but thats
for the wank factor

who'd approving a springover in Qld :?: or are you not getting it approved.

I know the diffs are sprung over factory but apprently that loophole is closed now. Ruff said this on this very board ;)

sounds like a plan.

SPOA is legal if it was factory fitment or was already approved under the old rules a few years ago. Otherwise nup ;)
