It can be done, but all brackets that the dash sits on need to be changed.

The width of the interior of the rig is the same so it will physically go in there.
U will have to change all wiring and plugs, and also more than likely add new wiring.

U will also have to mod a speedo cable to fit the GQ dash cluster as the MQ one wont attach to it.
All senders will more than likely be inacurate also.

The only person that has done it is Mick Christy ( MQHOON ) off this board.

3 yrs ago i thought this might be a good idea  but in the end decided that since gq's were so cheap getting a complete vehicle would be a better option than just a dash ;)
Now in 2008 with gq's being even cheaper (<$3000) and the abundance of cheap spares I honestly think you would be crazy wasting time doing anything to an mq (prob depend on ones particular situation though I guess....)

i have an mq ute cab which is basically a gq now. its on a gq chassis and all gq front. the car has a gq gearbox. i am looking to fit the dash to try and get the speedo to work. unless someone has some other ideas with the speedo dilemma i have.

would like the truck to look like a gq inside to.

Ok can see why you would want to do it now. you should have given all this info in your first post to get the answers you need quicker.

GQ speedo picks up off the gearbox so if you have a gq box you will be right.
The firewall is esentially the same 'shape' so it is just a matter of cutting off tabs and welding new ones on, and covering holes and making new ones if needs be.
You will need to use the gq heater/aircon/ducting (unless they are the same) so all the linkages match up with the controls on the dash.

how much can you get a GQ cab for? Maybe easier and you get everythign then to fit.
