Injector Pump Leaking

i have a 1hz 4.2 diesel in my hj75 and have noticed diesel leaking from what i think is coming from the injector pump, is it a commen problem or a wear and tear. also do they do a reco kit for them or do i have to bite the bullet and get an aftermarket one thanks all much help needed.

I had my injector pump from my 2H rebuilt last year when I was doing the engine rebuild... cost me approx $1500 for a total rebuild + injectors serviced.

I would recommend taking it to a specialist as it's not worth doing the job twice if somethings wrong.

The new beut low sulphor diesel makes the seals leak...you will need to get it recod, problem is, when they open it up to change the seals, they will find more work to do in there, so ive heard cheapest at 1200, up to 4000 once everything is new....have a good talk to the diesel mechanic you choose....

Try using an additive first some times the seals take up again yes it’s the new low sulphur diesel it’s drying out the seals.
Over the past 4 months I have had to rebuild my pump and my friend who is a diesel mechanic has also done two pumps but has also used a diesel additive on many of his trucks and their taken back up so if its only weeping add an additive and see what happens leave it a week after adding it otherwise if that don’t work the next step is to take it into a diesel injection place

Dont laugh please......but if you are game to save yourself some money....add half a litre of brake fluid to the main tank and fill both up....use the fuel from the sub to slosh it all together well in the main, and then use the main....(brake fluid has seal swell in it)
It was mentioned on another list...that rover used to put it in gearbox oil to stop leaks.....and it works

Get the leak checked to see where its coming from, some can be fixed on the vehicle. Pump rebuild prices start from around 600 and can go up. May just be a simple fix to start with.

I HAD A LEAKING INJECTOR PUMP ON MY LANDCRUISER(1HZ) I FOUND IT TO BE THE SEAL AROUND THE TOP PART OF THE PUMP BODY, IT IS A RECTANGULAR (PLUS A FEW EXTRA WIGGLES HERE AND THERE)"O"RING TYPE SEAL. ABOUT $6 FROM TOYOTA. I REMOVED THE PUMP FROM THE ENGINE TO DO, BUT YOU MAY BE ABLE TO DO IT IN THERE, IT'S A GOOD OPORTUNITY TO DO THE TIMING BELT ANYWAY.

It works, but i wouldnt do it unless you want to trade her in..i suppose its a bit like Viagra....works but can cause other complications....
Biodiesel will also fix the leak, as the fats in it swell the seals, but you will need a few filters to catch what it cleans up in your system....the only way to do it proper, is a pump service, and Cooma diesel in Canberra do a good job.

ive heard of people using auto trans oil to do the same so yes i would say so but i wouldnt use anything that wasnt oils based in the fuel.
diesel engines were made in the first place to run on peanut oil true or false ? lol its true.
its only the oil groups that make you think otherwise and the diesel sign
