Loss of engine power
Loss of engine power
Guys,
With the near freezing conditions in NE Vic, my zook has started playing up. Vehicle is a 93 Stockman ute (Maruti) with the stock 970cc motor. Driving it in the morning its lacking power on the road barely holding 90km/hr. At full throttle it loses power, back off a little and its fine but obviously you now can't accelerate. Stop or place it in neutral and the engine either idles rough or just stalls. It always start up easy enough though and revs out okay until actually moving. Problem seems to be a morning thing as by the afternoon on the drive home its fine and will happily cruise at 100km/hr with a little left over. Any suggestions?
Cheers...

You just barely reworded my post ...grimbo wrote:carb freezing up perhaps. Do you still havve the pre warmer tube from ontop of the exhaust manifod to the air box and is it switched to winter driving to allow the warmer air to flow into the carb.
I dont think the either you or I are qualified to give Zuk advice anymore ..

well if the "old lada" was sooooo great .. why are you now in a ZukCptnBarney wrote:Thank you gents,
Pre-warmer tube is there, but no I haven't swapped over to winter mode. Jeez the old Lada didnt need that Will try it out as I'm pretty sure its still on the "Summer" setting.
Thanks...

Cold weather
Just a thought. The g13b engine in the Swift has a thermo controlled summer/winter flap in the air intake on the end of the air cleaner.
From memory my earlier g10 Swift had it as well.
It probably wouldn't take much modification to make it fit on your inlet.
re Lada/Russia. I think winter in Japan is pretty cold too!
Cheers
