2lt questions.....

Post by Maddog »

Is the bottom end in a 2L the same as the bottom end in a 2LT (oil galleries, pistons etc...) and if it isn't, what are the differances???

Also, do all 2lt's have 2lt written on the block...?

No, the 2L-T engine is completely different
the crank has bigger main bearing journals & ten bolt flywheel, the conrods have bigger gudgen pins and big ends to match the crank, the pistons have a thicker finned crown with bigger gudgens

there are two versions of the 2L-T engines pre 85 and post 85 and then there was the 2L-Te
the early engines had the same head as the 2L, the later had the modified 3L head

I think you will find early 2L have 6 bolts in the flywheel and the later 2L-T/2L-TE have 8.I know there is 8 in mine.
