4Y = Gutless

Post by sierrajim »

Have done a search and there is not a lot of info on here retaining to the 4Y.

In the future i'll be replacing the engine with either V6 or V8 but in the meantime i need more power. Is this achievable with bolt on parts or is it not worth the trouble?

I'm looking in the future (late this year) of running a Chev 4.3 V6, 4.8 V8 or 5.3 V8.

For the moment i just want to get the car up and running and sort out the engine later.

Without having prices on the Toyota V6 its hard to say for sure but i would suggest that i can do the late model (brand new) chev engine swap for less. I also have enough spares for any of these chev motors on the shelf to run a car for almost a lifetime.

Is there any way of getting some cheap HP out of the 4Y without replacing it with something else?

Yep, weber carb off a 2 litre cortina, extractors. Will give you a little more power, hardly neck snapping stuff though.

Does the 3RZfe use the existing 4Y gear box and do the engine mounts stay in the same postion or do they recquire moving?
Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)
