Hi there,
I have heard of people removing the thermostat from their cars to help cope with high temperature, but no one i have spoken to has done it to the Pajero.
The reason I ask is that I Live in dubai where the summer temperature gets to 50 Degrees Celsius if not more, and around 20 degrees in winter. In some cases and some desert trips I have problems with overheating as you dont always have much speed over the dunes.
Any one got any ideas or suggestions
Thanks

In my experience, Mitsubishi cooling systems are among the best made. But as I've never driven high loads at low speeds in extreme temperatures my experience doesn't really compare to yours.
As an engineer, I recoil at the concept of removing the thermostat. This may help under a very specific set of conditions, but outside those conditions the engine will not be running at the correct temperature.
Personally, I'd be trying bigger/more thermo fans and/or larger radiator before I do something as dodgy as removing the thermostat.
Cheers,
Scott

Yes I agree with Scott I personally wouldn't remove my thermostat, maybe replace it with a lower rated unit than standard but thats all I'd do.
You can wire up your A/C electric fan to a switch on the dash to provide more airflow at low speeds, a lot of the US guys do this as they crawl in hot conditions and this mod does help.
Failing that a larger radiator and a huge thermo fan to replace the clutch driven one to give better airflow at crawl speeds. I would only do one mod at a time though.
