Hi all
Next job on my list is to install a long range tank. I have the tank, but I think it would be best to replace the pump at the same time.
Now the question is which pump do I by...do I go rover or is there another alternative?

Sorry...I should have given more detail, like the Rangie is 1986 3.5 EFI.
Is the sender unit part of the pump? I am just thinking of replacing it because everytime I fill the car with petrol, the gauge never goes over 3/4 full even though the tank is full to the brim!
Also, which model Holden does the pump suit?

As far as your tank, sender etc go, do you have an access panel in the floor of your car to get to the top of the fuel tank ? If so I would pull it out
and have a look at the pump and how it is mounted then go shopping for a holden pump.
My 1991 3.9 EFI is a direct swap for the late model commodores. The sender is completely separate on mine but I am not sure how yours works will more than likely be the same, it has a float system on a piece of coathanger like wire that sits off to one site hooked up to a sender unit.

No pump and sender are seperate.
Pump goes through the top of tank have to remove tank, later models have inspection cover.
sender goes through side Left.
I think it was VN EFI V8. (and probaly the same one now)

seems about right, I am pretty sure mine was $149 ish, get some EFI hose clamps while you are there the rover ones are crimped on and can't really be re-used. Make sure they are ok to use on EFI lines, theu ususally have a sheath that runs under the clamp so the worm drive of the clamp won't pinch the line.

yeah if I remember correctly cut the existing crimps off the power connector, then carefully pulled the crimps apart that came with the new pump and then "crimped" them onto the existing harness, red for red and black for black.Philip A wrote:I believe you have to reverse the wires/terminals, big for little. ie you have to change the terminals on the Rangie wires to match the pump.

Here is a thread from pirate on replacing the fuel pump and they mention the swapping of the wires, I honestly can't remeber if I reversed the polarity so I don't know sorry
