I need to know what is involved,
I have a complete 1994 gq 4.2td with a after market safari and i was thinking about buying a gu cheap to swap the engines
any help would be great

Put an old engine in a new car??????????????
Make sense to sell the GQ to finance a better GU and save yourself a sh*t load of work and bother.
2.8's have different drivetrain

If you want to put it into a 2.8tdi. You will also need the gear box. As the 2.8tdi uses a 300zx box.
Dont think wiring should be to hard. As there both 6cylinder diesels with glowplugs.

all solved
a GQ 4.2td will go in a gu as ong as u have all the running gear to swap and u do a 1" body lift so the tunnel clears the gear box
