in 4x4 Monthly I saw them going for $1350

I'm thinking of getting one.
Just gotta talk the wife into it. :?
I think ten minutes on a hand winch should do it. :D

Anyone used the one at from Repco? Not sure what the brand name is but its around the $850 mark and apparently is a replica of the OX branded equivalent.

Sorry for the Hijack.

does it work at all? do you know what needs replacing on it?
is the cable any good, complete with fairlead and all wiring?

its not gonna be worth much if its not working and its not known what is needed to repair it

This is the biggest thing that will affect the price - anywhere from $0 if the winch has major mechanical problems to a max of about $500 if it just needs a solenoid replaced.

But if you don't know what is wrong you will have a hard time getting any $$$ for it.

The T MAX winches are as good as a lot of the more well known brands and parts are cheap and easy to come by for instance there motors are worth $440 new which is a 5.5Hp motor that comes standard on the winch. I have opened a few differnt brands of winches up for basic cleaning and servicing and they look as good as the others.

spoke to mal leslie recently about different brands of winches.
(he mods lots of comp. winches in vic.)
repco have a sale on, 20% discount.
$999 - 20% = $800 for a 8000 pound repco winch.
he pulled one down and reckons its the same as brawn, tabor, t max, ox, etc, etc, stuff.
paint the armature, re crimp cables place some new o-rings in and you have yourself a bargain.

i went to look for the catalogue in the recycle bin, but had to walk past the beer fridge fortunatly (again).
i suspected the repco winches were 9000 pound, 9500 is even better.
spool it with 11mm plasma and your off under $1500 ;)
