Super Swamper and IROK
I would prefer thoughts from people that have had both oor either. Which do you think is better, what does the IROX run like when you drive them on the street (getting to and from trails) any good info would be greatly appricated.

Its not cool, unless it's got boost :)
mmm they feel softer then my MTRs .... yeh tread spacing would have some thing to do with it ...
petes running irocks on his FTRUCK!!! ask him ...
tonkatuffs mate gordo from cairns has a set on his DD patrol ute

I think Sam was saying that he has in fact tested the IROKs with a Durometer and found that they are the same as the TSL.
I think it was Petes tyres that he tested.
Like he said it would more than likely be the larger tread spacing on the iroks that would make them wear faster.
His finger
I have finger tested my TSLs against NAMs IROKs and they feel about the same. But as mine are new, I would say they will soften up a little more with use.
I think the IROKs appear softer as has been mentioned already, the tread voids are larger and also the siping and stepped lugs makes them squish a bit.
My unscientific approach suggests they are similar rubber compounds. IE. soft.

But when was you finger last calibrated? This could have a major bearing on the outcome.Shorty40 wrote:His finger![]()

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY....

Yep - I agree with this. Irocs are about the same as a TSL - ie not soft!!shorty40 wrote:I have finger tested my TSLs against NAMs IROKs and they feel about the same.
Heres my list on durometer testings-
MT Baja Claw - 72
TLS - 64 to 68
Irocs - 66 to 70 (as tested on Petes 49s)
Krawlers - 60 to 64
One of Rods TSLs - 60
Adrians comp spec claws - 52
Micky Thompson Drag tyre - 40
So I think comp spec claws would be soft, road spec Krawlers are sort of soft, TSLs and Irocs arnt soft and road spec Claws are definately not soft.
And if you are good with your thumb nail you would find this also.

Just out of curiousity, what would an MTR and a BFG MT rate on the durometer?Strange Rover wrote:bubs wrote:shorty40 you got it in oneYep - I agree with this. Dont expect mere proof to sway my opinion.
From memory both these tyres are about average (around the 65 mark) And when I say from memory I can remember that these tyres didnt seem to be extraordinary.rOd wrote:

Also I can remember getting a reading from a maxis crawler and these were fairly soft in the low 60s.
Basically nothing gets down into the 50s except for adrians comp spec claws.
Sam
I have read that the comp spec krawler is 40 and when saw them in the US I believe it. You can easily dig your thumbnail into the tread and when you pull it out it leaves an impression for probably 20 seconds or so.AnthonyP wrote:orsum tech, very interesting read![]()
I wonder how soft the comp spec Krawlers would be![]()
Have you ever done similar duro tests with the Silverstones or any Simex tyre???
sorry for the mini hijack

What makes Rods TSLs so special ?Strange Rover wrote:bubs wrote:shorty40 you got it in oneYep - I agree with this. Irocs are about the same as a TSL - ie not soft!!shorty40 wrote:I have finger tested my TSLs against NAMs IROKs and they feel about the same.

Are you saying a BFG MT is a soft as a TSL ? I have had 2 sets of both tyres and the are not even close
Maybe I had a freak set of TSLs
Looks like I may need to calibrate my finger
Ahh okRUFF wrote:From our experiances Interco Tyres are all over the place. Its only one of Rods Tyres that are so soft. Why we have no idea. If the dates on the tyre match then generally they are all close but one of Rods tyres is from a different batch to the other 3 and its softer.
I had heard that Intercos tolerances were a little inconsistent between 'batches'
Im a little surprised the TSLs ranked that hard. the 2 sets I have had have been quite soft.
Either way, I reckon they are cool and Im happy with their performance
This is probably the most important bit for swampers. If you are going to buy them check out a heap of them to find the softest ones. When I gauged Petes 49in Irocs at WE Rock the right one measure 66 and the left one was closer to 70 on some lugs. The radial ones on his tow rig were 65. I think its just there batching that isnt consistant.Shorty40 wrote:I had heard that Intercos tolerances were a little inconsistent between 'batches'![]()
