Hi, a friend of mine has a lada, thats been sitting in the driveway for a few years now, according to him, all thats wrong with it is that it needs a new accelerator cable, and , it doesn't start :lol: . But when the keys turned, the engine slowly cranks over... it isn't the battery, apparently its quite new. I was wondering if it could be just the plugs etc.... i know this is a pretty vauge description but i was just hoping to grab the attention of anyone who has restored a lada for some advice.

Also, its a pretty tidy car, only a bit of surface rust, and trying to decide if its worth fully restoring and getting NSW rego, or just use as basher and tandem it up to 4x4 tracks. On that note, does ne1 know if u can get Recreational Registration or sumthing, to save a few bucks.

And how hard is it to give one of these a 'backyard lift' so to speak :D , suspension preferably, or body if thats too hard.

I no longer have a Lada as it was written off... but they're generally not worth restoring as you dont get much for them. Not bad in the bush though for a cheap 4WD, but not as capable as a Sierra, primarily because the Lada is harder to modify. Still, they are capable.
For cheap 50mm lift, take out a front and rear coil and take them to the wreckers. Match for overall diameter and length with anything you find with a 16mm coil rather than 13mm. Replace and you've got around 40 to 50mm lift. Allows you to run a 215R15 tyre without rubbing. Cut the guards a little and a 235 will fit.

u'd have fun giving a Lada a body lift. coz they dont have a chassis! but they do bottom out a bit. so some bigger tyres and spring lift would make it go offroad alot better. the engine problem sounds like a distributer, sparkplugs or leads have a look at them. they dont have much power though! we ran our old 1 on premium and the made it go alot better. cheers!

but only as part of the body structure.

easy to do a 2" suspension lift, hard work after that.

has any 1 lifted a lada 3 or 4 inches hire and fittid 31 or 32s on it
just a question coz im thinking about buying 1 and can any 1 tell me how a custom winch bar would work on it

hi just bought a lada and had the stiring apart for a minor fix and tidy up .and the wires of the back of the ignition barrel fell off.so i was wondering if any 1 no's wot wires go were or does any 1 have a diagram on wich goes were cheers adam

fiat twin cam 1.6,1.8 & 2.0 will bolt up to the gearbox.
But it's not a straight swap. Need to alter sump, bracket for front diff etc.

Given that the transfercase is divorced you could put any RWD engine and gearbox combi in as long as it is short enough.
