OK,a long story so bear with me.The ECU totally burned itself out and held the injectors open,it was sent back to the factory and replaced as it was found to be an internal fault.when the new one was installed it ran OK,the next morning it felt like the same problem until the engine warmed up.it lasted 4 days until it never came good when it reached operating temp.Took it back to the dealer and it was sent back to the factory, this time it supposedly tested up fine. Then they turn around and say they want to test the injectors with my ECU on their machine. Results were 3 injectors faulty,I tested them before i sent away and all read 2.8ohms resistance(in spec).anyone got ideas about what caused the problem? The amount of fuel injected when injectors were held open was far too much and diluted the oil resulting in all bearings being replaced, crankshaft reground, pistons and rings cleaned of the wet carbon.Notice all cylinders were wet meaning all injectors were staying open not just 3.to me it seems like the ECU is causing the problem.
It is possible the injectors are the cause of your problems,As i said before im not familiar with haltech systems ,if the four injectors are pulsed at the same time (as in most multipoint setups)an overload of the components that fire the injectors could hold all four open and the same if they are grouped injectors (ie 2sets of 2 injectors),if your system is sequencial then then only the three cylinders with the faulty injectors would be effected.
Testing the resistance of the injector coil does not alway identify faults, electrically loading the injector with a pulse type tester and measuring the current waveform on a scope is more conclusive.
alot of aftermarket efi systems you can program the settings for different injector impedance values and the firing method ie multipoint or sequencial
Is yours setup correctly?
how old were the injectors ?
A common problem ive incounted on alot of diy systems is not running large enough cables to supply ecu reulting in voltage drops and high current draw from injectors.
hope this helps ,keep us informed of any progress
cheers scott

oxygen sensors need to be heated, how?
not sure if it's set up properly(whole system) as it was this dealers first install,he only just became an agent for haltech.the injectors were fitted new with the haltech stuff only 6months ago.the problem only started after i brought the car back to get a few little bugs tuned out of it.could it be caused by totally wrong map settings?he fitted the wiring harness supplied from haltech(flying lead)which had to be made to suit sort of thing.i will speak to the dealer this coming week to pick up the injectors and ECU,be interested to hear what he has to say.

I'm not too familiar with the Haltech system, but IMHO any EFI computer that has a dicky sensor should register it as a fault (compensate for it) and not stuff your engine. All the factory ECU's I've worked on function this way.
Your oxy sensor sounds like a heated one. Two wires for the heater and the other two most likely an earth and the oxy sensor signal.

saw the dealer today and told me all injectors were working allright when the haltech guys started to test them, then they used heat guns to raise the temp on each to see if problems would arise.now i have 3 injectors which won't even pulse but the remaining 5 are fine, now he tells me to buy a full set of different type injectors(high or low impedence?)as they don't draw as much power to pulse but aren't as quick.to me it sounds like a lot of money guessing and trying, all because i'm dealing with people who aren't competent.
you said the injector coils measured at 2.8ohms which means they are low impedence and according to the manual for the E6X you should be able to run those alright.???high impedence injectors will reduce the current load on the ECU but Im not convinced thats your problem.I would try and talk with another dealer who has more experience with haltech and get a second opinion.

Re: haltech
I'd be spewing at them for stuffing a good set of injectors! What's the point in doing that and then turning around and telling you to buy new ones because it was the impedance?!THE 109 wrote:saw the dealer today and told me all injectors were working allright when the haltech guys started to test them, then they used heat guns to raise the temp on each to see if problems would arise.now i have 3 injectors which won't even pulse but the remaining 5 are fine, now he tells me to buy a full set of different type injectors(high or low impedence?).

i'm thinking i'll talk to another dealer about my situation as the one i've been using is f...ing hopeless and won't warrant injectors he decided to buy and fit in the first place.thanks for all the help so far everyone, will keep you posted.
