Swapping Tailshafts

I want to change my rear tailshaft to a 1 piece on a 95 hilux. Is it cheaper to convert the 2 piece shaft, or get a 1 piece shaft and cut that.

Just use the two piece you have!

Use the two uni's and slip yoke, all you need is a length of tube and a welder and your done, or take the whole lot to a drive shaft shop and get them to do it all for you!

I paid $450.00 for a custom made front shaft and that was everything, double cardon joint, new hardy spicer slip, new uni and heavy duty tube! I am sure if you supplied most of the parts it will work out cheaper!

I would imagine it will work out heaps cheaper for you by using what you already have!

Yeah I thought that might be the way to go. The unis are still ok in the shaft, so I might give that a go.

i paid about $400 for mine and got new unis put in and made to a custom length
i think it was about $250 for the shaft if i didnt need to change the unis.

i paid around $200 to get my 2 piece made to a 1 piece and that included one new uni

I called up a place in Dandenong today (G J Drivelines) and they gave me a price of $220 to do it, I think the uni's should be right at the moment, but I will check them before I hand the shaft over.

they will check them for you, so dont full stress :cool:
