Rocky diffs
Hey fellas,
Does anyone know if it is possible to swap rocky diffs into my old f20 to increase trackwidth. Like the front rocky diff the f20 has one u bolt on the right hand side going through the cast iron of the pumpkin. Is the offset of the rocky diffs the same as the f20's or will the pumpkin interfere with the springs on my f20? maybe it's possible for one of you guys to put a tapemeasure on their diffs to help me out on my everlasting quest for stability (rolled it almost twice last weekend........)
Cheers

The distance from suspension centre bolt to centre bolt is 740mm. The distance from rhs centre bolt to centre bolt on bottom of diff is 155mm. The inside U bolt on right hand side goes through a hole in diff housing behind the axle tube. This U bolt is slightly larger than the other 3 due to it going over the top of the cast part of the diff housing/axle tube assembly. All these measurements are from my narrow track 1985 F75.

Thanks David, that's the info I'm after. Seems that rocky diffs aren't the way to go. did some measurements myself and centre to centre (L&R) is 65 cm. so the rocky diffhousing will interfere with the springs without major modifications to spriinghangers or diffs
Thanks again

yep I have offset rims , 8 cm total increase of track with 31's (guess total width outside tires is +15 cm compared to stock, but it feels still very tippy.
Don't know if adding spacers is wise when already having offset rims like this (it has to stay roadworthy in the end). Whadda u guys reckon?

Boggers! wide real wide!
i thought you had bigger tyres than 31's.
A while back i was havin a chat with ya via Pm's and u where thinking about yota diffs. Maybe 60 series! There seriously strong. Fair bit of modding to do for it to work but would be a massive increase in track width. Especially with 35's on those diffs.
he he i love dreaming!

Never had bigger than 31's... I decided to give the old girl one last summer of 4wding before I fully restore it into a camping rig (has to be roadworthy so no bigger than 31's).
But I want to take the experiences of this setup to the donor vehicle of the parts I'll use for restoring it and make a weapon of the leftovers (chassis, frontside of the tub-ideal for uting it), driveline.
About dreaming. I've driven one heluva f20 on mogs with 37's, 4 link and lexus v8
cheers
