Extended shackles

Post by noelp »

Hi all,
I know it may be illegal in some states, but does anyone know if any extended shackles are available for the rear springs? Preferrably greaseable if available. The WARFS website suggests that perhaps jeep yj front shackes fit ie same spring width. I could make my own but would prefer to buy them from someone who can weld properly! Is a 4 inch longer than normal shackle unreasonable to get a 2 inch lift?

And yes, hahahahahahahaha my nickname stands for 'no help'....haven't heard that before....not!

i think it might be illegal in most states but yes you can still buy them.
I believe your best bet is to visit a 4x4 engineering workshop and get them to make it up for you. depending on where you are im sure there are people on this board who can suggest a place.

Remember that f300 and f310's have different leaves so different shackels.

standard f300 bolt to bolt on the shackel is 80cm. I made mine 130mm.
People here have said more then 50mm extra tends to put your axel on to much of an angle and will start to vibrate.
Also a 50mm longer shackle gives you approx 20-30mm extra height due to the fact your only lifting one side of the leaf.
