Parabolics and other questions for a single cab LN106
I have a single cab LN106 2.8 diesel and the springs are just about cactus so i am looking for a new set of boingers. have read the threads on here about the parabolics and they seem to flex well. But where do you get them??? 4WD Systems here in Adelaide has just started selling them and swears he is the only one as he gets them from the old ultimate suspension factory in malaysia. He also seems to want my first born for a set. I asked how much and he just said about $300 more than normal leaves, and he sells them in a kit with 35 mm gas shocks for about $1300 thus making the parabolics about $1600 with shocks does this seem like a fair deal??? Also is it worth while going for headers and a 2.5" system? The ute has a new motor but the original exhaust has almost 300,000km on it. It seems pretty breathless. I'm also running 33" on it and that wont be helping the gutless stakes i know. What gear ratio do i need to bring it back to stock?? Thats all I can think of for now but i'll be back.

I have parabolics all round on my 82 Hilux. Unlike what most people seem to say, i like them, but i have not got a big chance to test them fully yet, but when they soften up i can jump all over my tray and they work.
They were $220 each. I also bought some 2nd hand ones of NICK off this board.

I bought my papabolics off a guy who runs a shop. called 4x4 Engineering, in Acacia Ridge near brissy. They were made by Fireflex Suspension (so the sticker said), which i believe is an Austrailan company. If i can , i will take some pics for ya. They lifted my car bout 6-8" and have settled now. From floor to tray sits 41".

i run parabolics in the front of my hilux, and they flex well but have sagged about 1-2" in under a year. i did have parabolics in the rear but in less then 6 months they had sagged a lot and they were bent. i also paid $220 a spring from 4x4 engineering.
as for the headers and exhaust, i have just put extractors and 2.5" exhaust with a straight through muffler on my 2.8 and it made stuff all to no difference to power, but it is a lot louder
with 33" inch tyres you should be runnin 4.88 ratios to bring back to standard.

if you are a tradesmen and dont wheel i would run them again
off road they are no good if you go hard, i do use the whole length of my front shocks
i only bought them as i was hoping for an easy way out

Cheers for the replies seems that standard leaf packs are the go. I run a Landscaping/Earthmoving business so there will nearly always be about 100l of diesel on the back plus tools, chainsaws etc. Most of the driving i do will be fire trails and a bit of trekking, camping etc. So ome or fireflex would be the go huh??? Also are 4.88 easily available second hand??? So is the exhaust a waste also??? i plan to supercharge the ute down the track as its a cheap way to get more GG's. With regards to the springs, I dont want a massive lift just something that looks nice and works well 33" will be as big as i go.
