One more Q on the 1989 Feroza (just got it yesterday) - the rear suspension leaves are FLAT - like totally. Is this normal or is mine stuffed? Will take a photo later to show, but doesn't look right to me :-(

Mine's an '89 too. As you can see, it's a little low in the rear. They're just slightly sagged past flat, so I'm actually in the middle of replacing the rear suspension componentry ATM. AFAIK, the '89s actually had a better leaf setup than some of the later models as Daihatsu economised on the number of leaves in the spring, but if they're original... 16 years of wear is probably beginning to show.

In terms of vehicular design, I hope one day I meet the sod who decided that was a good place to mount the top of the rear shock though... hopefully in a dark ally with a tyre iron. :(

:rofl: Just be thankful you didn't have the electronic adjustable shocks. To remove them you first need to unbolt the adjustment motor from the top of the shock!! :bad-words: BTW do you know there's an access hole in the floor underneath the rear seat to get to the top nut?

My '92 model leafs used to sit flat. I think that's fairly normal (mine were a five leaf pack too.)

The springs still look like they have still got a reasonable arc in them- perhaps the front jacked up has helped?

I thought I had a pic of my stockers , but can't find it. They looked completely flat with it unloaded and there was only a couple of cm gap to the bumpstops.

I have an 88'. The springs sat flat and I also thought they wre no good. I just replaced them with enforcer 5 leaf springs, very sturdy and at least 50mm lift.

mine are definaltey flat - See the pic. Though, parked on the street, my fronts are LOWER! Oh my, I think I have my excuse for a few inches of lift??

Where abouts are you in Brisbane?. The only spring supllies I found were TJM for $235 each and Enforcer for $328 pair from On Track 4x4 in Slacks Creek.

Can you give any more information on the Enforcer springs? Would you say the ride is comfortable and not to stiff? I am looking at enforcer shocks and springs from an online company called www.outbackproven.com.au

There prices seem very reasonable compared to some prices ive seen listed here.

Two rear leaf springs 40mm lift Enforcer $302.00
Four Enforcer shock absorbers $302.00
Bush Kit $50.00
Ubolts $38.00

All prices include GST.

Just remember to check if they fit your Feroza before buying eg. wide track and narrow track are different spring widths. More places seem to do narrow track from what I found.

Very true. I haven't checked mine out with the new springs, but I doubt it will get anywhere near the old stockers.

Old leaf springs need help

I had the same problem with my F300, read all the topics ans went to the web site... then after all that I did it my self.

Found a set of springs simmilaer in length and with, but a bit thicker, removed my springs dismantled the leaves and swapped out 1 at a time. took awhile but Iknow all the bits are bolted strong (new bolts) vehical is raised and still kept the same shocks on. Have not needed to upgrade them yet (most expensive part).
Cranked up the front torssionbars and presto, raisd vehcal stronger suspension, added new tyres (30's) welded the rear diff and she is a new monster. I can now drive around vehicals thathave pulled me out before.

PS. i even tried putting the springs on topof the differentail but that was TOOO much height.
