I read somewhere there is a right angle drive that you can take straight off another car and bolt it on. Cant remember what, i have a look thru my archives.

EDIT: Found it, you can use '1989 Mazda 323 GTX 1.6Ltr Rotor and Dizzy Cap'

I have been trying to redraw the original Gti wiring diagram to work out the skeletal minimal needed to mate the Gti harness to the sierra harness. So far i'm 50% done. But in all seriousness bite the bullet and get a Sparky. Loom tech is rather fiddly :D

would get a sparky but none of them around here know anything about gti's.

got a heap of wiring diagrams. problem is that unsure whether need to have engine diagnostics and check engine lamp connected. do you know?

that is my site

the site i got that info from isnt up anymore but from what i can remember you use the gtx dizzy cap and with the rotor you need to use the spline from the gti and put it in the gtx rotor if you want more info i should have a copy of the info on my computer somewhere

Clancy this is what i did took me about an hour to get running.Hope this helps.

When hooking up use the starter and charge systems from the sierra loom these plug straight in. Also use the temp guage tacho and coil positive wires from the sierra.

From the gti harness you just use the engine management wires which basically plug into the ecu.
The other wire to use from gti harness is the main relay power which connects to the battery.
I used an external high pressure fuel pump from a V8 statesman part no. fpe 240. This connects to the coil positive aswell.
From here the car should run.

think i might have worked out the problem.

don't have the diagnostic test switch terminal thing thing or check engine light. i guess you had all that on your harness? trying to locate one now.

the harness i got came minus a few things, stupid me. didn't know much about the motor when purchased it but know all the details now!
