I00 Series Pads Won't Fit Into V6 4 Runner Calipers.

Post by Bitsamissin »

I tried this mod and it won't work.
The outer pad is ok but the inner pad hits part of the swivel hub and no amount of trimming is gonna make it fit.
The 80's obviously run a bigger rotor which spaces the caliper further back and a different swivel hub so there's enough room.
It's a pity because the 100 pad is quite a lot bigger compared to an 80 or 4 Runner/Hilux pad so it would have been a good, cheap brake upgrade.
I run the larger V6 4 Runner calipers with Lux 302mm vented rotors.
Just thought I'd share that.

Frank.

Wow, thanks for being the test rabbit :)

What part of the swivel housing hits the pad? The caliper mounting ears? I'm trying to picture the caliper as it sits on the swivel. Can the swivel housing be trimmed at all to clear the pad instead of vice versa?

I don't think so, it's not a few mm I'm talking about but about half an inch at least
The inner pad hits the swivel hub caliper mounting eyes and I don't think there is enough meat there to take off to make the pads fit.
