f300 powerup questions....

Post by BORN2RUN »

howdy, havint been doing much posting mainly viewin. but my question to you fine lads out there are:
my toy has the mrt extractors and pod filter assembly mated to a 2in tuned exhaust with high flow cat, straight threw muffler and 3in by 5in long tip. now this isa good setup for mid to top end but i want more bottom end-which is wat im sufferin from especially in 4wd mode.
--has anybody thought bout doing a small supercharger setup to develop more bottom end delivery? thought bout turbo but that develops mid to top end and that is not wat i want. i need a power/acceleration curve from 1000rpm too at least 4000prm. is that too much to ask for???
if you can help me wif my enquires it would be much appreciated boys and girls.
thanks for listening.

You need one of these. The 4cylinder supercharger is made by Avenger. They are the ones that did my solid axle swap and they wanted to put one on the Rocky. I didn't have the money after the axle swap.

The other one is an Alpine for TRD.

Get your ignition timing checked and try refitting the standard air filter canister assembly (including the black box and all the factory piping) and see if that improves the torque.

David,
Do you remember how many degrees above/below TDC you adjust the timing if you have bigger exhaust and freer flowing air.
Or did you just use a O2 sensor and adjust accordingly.

If you can, advance the timing above the factory spec 3 degrees BTDC (ie. 4 degrees or more with the vacuum advance blocked off.) Be very careful of detonation on hot days!! Running 98 octance fuel will help, I've found BP Ultimate best.

Could also be worth revving the engine with a timing light attached to check the timing is advancing OK.
