Rover Diff Failures

Post by Jay »

When the Rover diff breaks(pinion gears os the central shaft) should I expect damage to the R&P?
I have a 4.11 I want to fit to my RR but no lockers scared I might bust it if diff pinion gears break...

Without lockers and axles, the axle or the diff centre (planetary gears) will break first. If you have a locker the CW&P will break.

all of my rear diff breakages were the pinion gears or the shaft dying probaly a combination of both.

Rand P were always ok.

Yeah, the pin usually let go, also the coarse axles as well, but I did have a situation where the R&P was killed too (old series 4.7)
