Check rear main seal while gearbox is out - had to replace two so far, and would suggest replacing thrust bearing at the same time, particularly if you drive through water.

Use lots of neverseize on crossmember bolts when reinstalling, I busted three the first time I had to do mine and had to retap the holes - a lot of extra effort. :x

If you have at least one mate helping you can save a lot of effort by not removing the gear stick until you have dropped the box down partially, then remove circlip holding gear stick in. Lot easier that removing console etc, but can be a real PITA to put back in - you will need a mate to push down on the stick when reinstalling.

Otherwise follow the manual - have fun ;)

we changed mine in Birubi beach caravan park after it failed halfway up stockton beach, mines a petrol motor, but it was fairly simple, the hardest part is getting it all lined up when re assembling, we did it without an allingment tool or any trolley jacks, fortunately it was a club trip and we had plenty of able bodies. had to put a snatch strap around the bell housing and another around the gearbox and up through the hole in the floor, then used 6 blokes to hoist it up, while 2 of us lined everything up underneath. probably wouldnt hurt to get your flywheel machined too. mine didnt get machined because it was done at a less than ideal time and place. havent had any probs with it. and got to go wheelin on the beach on the sunday after spendin half of saturday night fixin the bastard

thats an understatement, if youve got a couple of good trolley jacks youll be right. like isaid earlier i used a couple of straps and 6 big blokes to lower mine and hoist it back up, i also found that a couple of the rear crossmember bolts were a bastard to get un done

Ok, got it out and back in last night, damb heavy gearbox with the transfer attached, used a hoist through the hole in the floor for the sticks, worked a treat, hardest bit was the bloody staples holding the ruber sock in place everywhere
