SE QLD Dyno'ers

Post by TOYrantula »

Well, I just bought a new Carb...or atleast another one. My last one was a 600 Holley...but the part number on it wasnt 1850 or whatever....it was goin fine, but then gave me troubles as I had earlier posted...after numerous attempts at fixing it and failing...I got a new one.

Was from autobahn actually!!! Was where bout the new one from. Was a remanufactured one for $350...not new, but not re-co...
Came with new base plate, butterflieys, metering block, an stuff....only orignal thing was the actual main part of it.
Everywhere else I priced was like $450 +

I am after a good place to dyno it now for my car....
Was going to adaptatune at springwood....heard good reports bout him, but $$$
A friend pointed me towards CNJ Motorsport near springwood on Kingston Rd...they appear to be a goer at the moment, also they appear to be only ones with a 4wd dyno on site, also $$$

Anyone else have any ideas?? Price isnt too big a hassle really....just want a good job done
Don't let you mind wander...it is too little to be out there by itself.

eh, I dont know............maybe they test it on everything??
I know that some ppl have said that with the bigger tyres that they dont sit properly in some dyno's hence not giving accurate readings...I could be wrong.

As I said, dont care who it goes to...just want a good job done on it. Both these places so far are about $250 plus parts

you get what you pay for really. experience counts for a lot, so pick a place that has done what you want before. good references from people is also a good indicator. pro-tuning is worth it imho.

Put a rochester on it stop wasting money on holleys. And expect to pay 3 times as much as quoted from CNJ (Formely Carb N Ject). You dont need a 4WD dyno even with large tyres the rollers are adjustable. You will prob be asked to find some smaller tyres for the vehicle though as i beleive holding the big tyres on the rollers becomes a pain in the ass.(Sam from overkill would know more about this)
Dyno time is not cheap. Dyno's are an expensive piece of machinery and learning how to use and diagnose with them takes a lot of time.

Why not get this Holley Guru you told me about from down the coast that you bought your first holley from to do the tune.

The only guys i know that tune holleys dont use a dyno.

I would take back to him.....but when carb stuffed up first time was after he tuned it....then said it wasnt the carb had to be something else. Apart from that he was good. When was running, it was great!!!
Just then running around associated with him in regards to that prob turned me off him. Was taking car to him all the time because he had no room in his garage....so really couldnt be bothered again. If engine needs rebuilding or something, then yeah, I'll see him in a flash....but not for another carby

Tony is exactly right, I have had my landcruiser dyno'ed at Brisbane turbo and tuning performance at Wooloongabba and i have had on 31s, 35s, and even 38s, the guy didnt even blink an eyelid. 3" straight off the turbo flames and all, and i drove it in right off the street and he goes, cool, leave it over there, gimme the keys we should have it done by 11am. :D

they have some SIIIK stuff in there sometimes but.
hands and mums dont count!!!
