Hey guys,
The truck is a Defender 110 (TDI 300), 35" tyres, 4.7 ring and pinion, and ARB front locker.
At the moment the truck has Maxi Drive 10 spline front shaft and Land Rover 110 CVs.
On Friday, for the first time in 3 years, I broke a CV. I am undecided between again using LandRover 110 CVs or using a McNamara front shaft (Nissan Patrol front shaft and CV conversion).
As long as I'm doing this, I will also change my front ARB which I hate and keeps having problems, to a McNamara locker.
Putting the money aspect aside, which would you prefer - McNamara or MaxiDrive front shafts ?

It does not matter. They are both stronger than the CV and the R&P in 24 spline anyway.
If you are busted and replacing everything anyways, you might consider the Toy route with the 30 spline Longfield CVs. It will be about the same cost but much stronger.
As you sit the R&P and CVs are not near strong enough for 35" tyres.

what about the jacmac hypoid locker. isn't this one high pinion with toyota r+p but somehow built stronger so there isn't the weakness in reverse (locker in)
i was talking to the guys at total traction driveline, this is what they recomend with toyota gear.
these were "the" jacmac employees that left because they were sick of the bs. soon to be making their own axles and other rover friendly stuff.

It uses the Toyota low pinion hypoid gear set , but the casting is made to increase the clearance under the pinion (compared to stock toyota low pinion housings), so that the rover tie rod will clear.
