Hilux diesel, High fuel consumption

hi all,
in the last couple of weeks my diesel hilux has gone from getting about 550k's per tank on the highway down to about 350ks,it has just started happening out of the blue and just wondering if anybody has any ideas,i am going to replace the fuel and air filters today and see if that makes any difference.
also, i have a lucas CAV filter installed but i cant figer out how to get it out to stick the new filter in,any tips?

Gday Gribble,
it is blowing a bit of white smoke in the morning before it warms up, but once it is warm it is pretty good. Reckon it might be worth taking the injectors out and having a bit of a look?

The easiest way to change the filter is to take the housing right off so you can see the bolt underneath :idea:
Allways been a TOYOTA man.
Now I'm old and grumpy as well.

just a quick reply,
replaced air and fuel filters and did an oil change,she is even better than before now!
